About Me
I am halfway through my 26th year in music education. I came to Stevens High School from Warren High School where I was the Associate Band Director.
Prior to my tenure at Warren, I was director of bands with the Taylor Independent School District, Lanier High School in Austin, Pecos ISD and Quanah ISD.
I am a native of West Texas and graduated from Seagraves High School in 1979. I then went to West Texas A&M University (formerly West Texas State University) where I earned a BME (1983) and MA (1995).
I am honored to have been named “Campus Teacher of the Year” at Taylor High School in 2000, Stevens HS “Fine Arts Department Teacher of the Year” in 2006 and again in 2008.
I have been actively involved in state and national music organizations. I served as Texas State Chair for the National Band Association in 1999-2000, and have been the Region 11 Representative for the Texas Bandmasters Association since 2004. I am an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association where I proudly serve on the State Board as TMEA Vice President for Region 11.
My professional affiliations include: Phi Beta Mu, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association and the Association of Texas Small School Bands.
I am happily married to my wife of 20 years, Lisa (Oldencott) (Holmes HS 1981). We have two young daughters Ashley, a junior oboist at Stevens High School, and Emily who plays french horn and attends a middle school in NISD.
